1966 Chevrolet Bel Air L72 427 is extremely rare. The Owner states his good faith belief that the car is a correct matching number car by all research indicating that it is correct. It is a spectacular historic example inside and out. It is equipped with the factory "Hi Perf" 425HP 427 solid lifter engine (Code # T0211 "ID", only available in the L72 Bel Air, the Corvette engines had a different 2 letter Code) and the rear block casting is correctly shown as "HI PERF". It is equipped with the rare factory optional GM F41 rear suspension which was only installed in "HI PERF" applications. It has a Muncie M21 4 speed transmission, a 12 bolt posi rear end, and she runs and drives exceptionally well. The unrestored interior and driveline mechanicals appear original to the car and unmolested except for an upgraded Hurst shifter. All major component casting codes are visible on the car and the odometer reads 70k miles. Everything appears to work including the original radio. She has had one show quality original repaint in the original color code shown on the vin cowl tag. All suspension, steering arm bushings and motor mounts have been replaced due to age so she rides tight and straight and drives like a dream. It has the Optional Power Steering and has been upgraded with front power disc brakes. This first year model was built by Chevrolet to be a sleeper drag race car, and she is that, but it is very drivable with optional 3:42 gears. This is a rare uncommonly fast and comfortable ride that is extremely collectible.
