1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport
Engine: LS5 454.
Transmission: Muncie 4-Speed
Mileage: 1,400
This car was built in the 3rd week of August of 1969 at the Leeds plant in Kansas City, Missouri. It was delivered to Weeks' Chevrolet in Hohenwald, TN. This can be verified between the trim tag, the shipping data sheet, and the production schedule that I sent photos of. Note that only Kansas City is named as being a KNOWN for sure plant of origin for the production of Chevelles in August of 1969.
From the information on the shipping data sheet, the Hohenwald, area Department of Motor Vehicles, and Facebook, we were able to track down family of the Weeks' dealership, the son of the owner, who was 12 at the time the car was delivered. I have spoken with him several times. In 1970, he would help out after school by taking the new cars to the wash bay and lay the paper mats in the floorboards. The Department of Motor Vehicles verified that this car remained in only 2 counties in Tennessee for its entire life until it came to Illinois and underwent a thorough restoration.
In 2015, I entered it in the State of Illinois Secretary of State Vehicle Show and it won first place in its class, and was awarded an engraved silver platter. I used to drive it to local car shows and won awards every time until I realized through this research that this is a true collector car so I stopped driving it and put it away.
