Description

1973 Chevrolet Chevelle SS – True Big Block Super Sport with Rare Swivel Bucket Seats
This is a very rare and documented 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. The VIN confirms it as a true Super Sport equipped with a factory 454 big block engine. While the engine appears original and the previous owner states it is, there is no visible VIN stamp, indicating the block was likely decked during a rebuild.
While 1973 Chevelles typically do not have factory build sheets, this car includes an original identification card that was found inside, further supporting its authenticity and originality.
The car features desirable and rare swivel bucket seats, adding to its uniqueness and collectability. The paint was redone in its original color in 2016 and remains presentable, though it does show minor signs of age including some scratches and bubbles.
Under the hood, the original 454 block has been professionally bored .040 over and upgraded with high-performance internals. The build includes Keith Black 26cc dome hypereutectic pistons, a forged crankshaft, mildly worked 049 heads with 2.19 and 1.88 valves, and a 10.2:1 compression ratio. The valvetrain is fitted with full roller rockers and a Comp Cams Magnum 292H cam. Additional performance parts include Hooker Super Competition headers, a Holley Strip Dominator intake manifold, and a Holley 850 double pumper carburetor. The engine was built by Topline Energy in 2019 and has been carefully maintained since. It currently runs on Valvoline VR-1 Racing Oil 10W-30.
The power is delivered through a Turbo 400 transmission with a 10-inch converter and 3200 stall, installed in 2019. Out back, a 12-bolt rear end houses a Moroso Brute Strength posi unit with 3.73 Richmond gears and new bearings. The car rides on Nitto drag radials installed in 2019.
Additional mechanical upgrades include a new gas tank and sending unit (2019), front-end bushings and a new steering box (2019), complete new weatherstripping (2019), a full new exhaust system (2021), and new rally wheels (2021).
